The Story

This is a dinner dedicated to 3 years of constructing & deconstructing conceptual gatherings in off-beat venues, and it comes as tribute offered to all the crazy cook-artists that joined our mission and manifesto.
Orchestrated by the culinary poet, Ciprian Nicolescu, this food-based experience is expected to be like no other. Entitled “Senses, a Work in Progress”, the menu imagined for the WeDine 36th edition is a poem written in edible words. A long time collaborator of the WeDine private events division, Chef Ciprian Nicolescu is at his second participation as a guest Chef at one of our dining-club events. We are honoured to have him, together with his Sous Chef – Cristian Dumitru, and his team, and we can’t help not to remember last January, a year ago, when all the 80 diners were standing & applauding their magnificent WeDine performance.

The name of the dessert is “A Huge Sense of Painted Uncertainty”. Maybe this should have been the name of the event as well, but what a pressure to create an edition to serve such a beautiful and subtle name…

The Menu

“This Menu chronicles a day in the life of a chef surrounded by nature, a creative process, playful and fiercely imaginative, deeply rooted in changing season and place, and committed to pure, real ingredients that nature provides. Is an unprecedented opportunity to learn about the philosophy of sourcing the ingredients, the experimentation behind the dishes and the cultural significance of dining at WeDine. Accompanying this insight into my world as a Chef, each recipe is examined from three perspectives: the philosophical concepts that led to its genesis, the technical angle with the culinary know-how employed in its creation, cutting-edge food technology and the practical side behind its day-to-day execution.” – Chef Ciprian Nicolescu

“I had the chance to shape my culinary art under the guidance of incredible craftsmen of the haute cuisine world. It’s a world where everything is perfectly polished & refined, from the way a chef looks, to the plating he is creating. And still, after all the journeys I’ve taken, the chef that continues to inspire my passion for cooking continues to be my mother. Beyond the fabulous taste and the great textures, what I love is that her food gives me a nostalgic insight to the world she comes from.

At this point in my life, I’m living a  dream. Cooking is not about fame, fortune, recognition or awards. It is about the memories we collect & share through taste. My cooking could be defined as a blend between the east & the west, a blend of flavours, art & science. I respect every ingredient, as each plays an important role in my culinary world, revealing the magic of flavours dancing together.”
